College Advising Services

Personalized Support Through Every Stage of the College Admissions Process

The Student is the Heart of the Process

I work with students and families through every stage of the college admissions process, ideally beginning in ninth grade or as early as the summer before high school begins.

My comprehensive advising approach is designed to reduce stress, build confidence, and create a clear plan that allows students to approach high school and college admissions with greater intention and balance. Working together over time also allows me to truly get to know each student, so I can better guide them toward opportunities, programs, and experiences that align with their individual strengths and interests.

Comprehensive Advising Includes:

  • High school course planning and long-term academic strategy

  • Guidance on standardized testing, including SAT vs. ACT strategy, testing timelines, and test-optional considerations

  • College list development focused on fit, goals, and opportunity

  • Support with extracurricular involvement, summer planning, and enrichment opportunities

  • Personalized timeline management and accountability support

  • Essay brainstorming, coaching, and application review

  • Application strategy and admissions guidance

  • Support for students and families throughout the decision-making process

  • Virtual meetings designed to fit comfortably into busy student schedules

Why do I offer a comprehensive approach?

The most meaningful advising relationships develop over time.

By working with students early in high school, I’m able to understand not only their academic goals but also their personality, strengths, interests, and family dynamics. This long-term approach allows me to provide guidance that feels more individualized, intentional, and supportive throughout the entire process.

Starting early helps students approach the college admissions process with less stress during senior year.

Rather than rushing through applications while balancing academics, extracurriculars, and testing, students can move through the process with greater confidence, organization, and balance.

Because my practice is fully virtual, students and families have greater flexibility when scheduling meetings.

Students can join from home between commitments, creating a more relaxed and manageable experience for everyone involved.

My Commitment to Staying Informed

I regularly visit colleges and attend professional conferences, which allows me to stay current on admissions trends while developing firsthand knowledge of campuses, programs, and institutional culture. These visits often help me identify opportunities and insights that align with my students' specific interests and goals.

“Kelly helped me accomplish things I never thought possible. As a student with ADHD, I struggled with time management and self-confidence. Kelly helped me stay organized, meet deadlines, and believe in my abilities. Thanks to her mentorship, I’m now pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology.”
